We made it to 40! Go us!
Shoutouts:
Congrats to Lockewood of House Ravengarde on your rise to 70!
This week we talked about the rise to 40 and some of the things we learned a long the way. Some short forms of the major lessons we learned:
Meeting stones require two people. You have one click the stone, the other the portal. Anything else won’t work and will make you feel stupid.
Raw materials are worth more than crafted items at this level range. If you want money, it’s all about gather and sell. The AH is not optional.
PVP can be fun, even if the Alliance couldn’t buy a win in the Arathi Basin.
Server news:
On the 3rd of March, at 8pm server time (on Blackwater Raiders), Telanar and Verlant request the honor of your presense in the Exodar as they exchange vows.
Our email bag was full this week so here are some exerpts and comments (and links!):
First a thank you to everyone who wrote in to share that the Naga are magically mutated elves. That explains the deviation from the 4-limb and 6-limb body plans.
We got an email from Ryan Prater where he writes in response to Adeldia’s “I can’t solo a priest” comment:
Adeldia made a comment that alluded to the priest not being much of a solo class. I’ve played a priest up to 70, and at lower levels, I can agree that it can be a bit painful. My suggestion is to stick with a shadow spec and soloing isn’t bad. Once you get in the 20s or 30s leveling gets better and once 40 (shadowform) hits, you are golden. I primarily play my priest to heal and you can still heal fine as a shadow spec. When you get into some of the Outlands instances it can be tough though. I converted to holy/disc and healing now is much more efficient. Let me know if you have any questions as I find this class to be very enjoyable.
He also gave a pretty complete list of recommended mods. We’ll check these out this week and report on them:
Bongos - UI Mod. We use Bartender 3 to similar effect though the maker has recently removed the cooldown timers so he recommends OCC for that.
CTRaid - a raid addon for FuBar
Perl - another UI mod that makes for nice toolbars
Auctioneer - It’s not in release yet so use at your own risk.
Necrosis - a Warlock-centric mod
Another listener Anachan on Warsong writes in response to our comments about girls grouping:
I thought I was deficient or something!! But now I know I’m perfectly normal, lol. I am one of those women who is afraid to group for fear of ruining it for everyone, and one of those who just doesn’t like to have anyone tell me how to play. (Especially if it comes from my husband, lol.) I feel a lot less badly about myself, now that I know it’s not just me.
We talked a lot about this and how easy it is when you think you really know how to do a quest, to get into a “do it my way” mentality. Even we feel into the “no, no, stop having fun your way; play our way” mode this weekend in the Deadmines.
Last we asked a trivia question: Who created the character on which Bhag’thera (the black panther in Stranglethorn Vale) is based on?
Congrats to Ryan Prater for coming up with the right answer: Rudyard Kipling. He created the character of Bagera in his story collection The Jungle Books, which featured tales based on his travels in India. It includes the story of Riki-tiki-tavi, one of Rorlins’s favorites. Send us your info and we’ll get your map out to you post haste.
This week there were two new contests, remember that the trivia needs to be to use by Saturday of this week, and you have two weeks for the bio contest.
All contest entries should be sent to theelfanddwarf@yahoo.com
