Episode 35: Vampires
That’s right to mesh with our Halloween theme, the Elf and Dwarf talk about the classic RPG Vampire the Masquerade. First comes some news (well a LOT of news) from the fantasy/ sci fi worlds including info on Pushing Daisies, the JLA movie, WoW news, and oh yeah, Dumbledore is gay. Then usual quick email segment (the Dragonlance Trailer is out there!) and then Ady does a book review!

Just wanted to recommend a series of books in a similar ‘vein’ to Ady’s review… I don’t know if she’s read anything by a guy named Chris Moore, but if she’s looking for hilarious ‘contemporary fantasy’ (though they do have quite a bit of language) his books are another ‘guilty pleasure’ read.
Most of his stuff ‘touches’ each other since they mostly take place around Northern California, but ‘Bloodsucking Fiends’ and ‘You Suck (A Love Story)’ are the two that deal with vampires primarily. I would also highly recommend ‘A Dirty Job’ if you might be interested in a story about a normal (and thoroughly uninteresting) guy who suddenly discovers that he’s a death. (Not ‘THE’ Death, just ‘a’ death… sort of a ‘Dead Like Me’ thing)

Well I hadn’t listened to the show in a little while. Got a bit of a podcast backlog going now. But I have been listening to you guys since about the beginning. I’ve been a fan of the banter between the both of you and you definetely help me to get in touch with my inner geek (in a totally not perverted way).
This show in particular finally made me want to come and comment on it. I liked it. A lot. But I was horribly dissapointed that there was no touching upon the Sabbat vampires of VtM. I’ve been a fan of the game system for years. Used to play in a small group that was doomed to failure from the very beginning. Then about eight years ago, I discovered chatroom roleplay and got very heavily into playing a Tzimisce character who grew, over about six years, almost completely out of his humanity. I realize that perhaps it was simply lack of experience with a Sabbat based game, but it’s a wonderful world of perversity and darkness that’s totally unlike the Camarilla side and if you haven’t experienced it I would suggest it. Then again, I can see how it might not be for everyone, but I certainly enjoyed it.
But again, great show, keep it up. With the sci-fi stuff you tend to lose me but I’m still here for the time being. Thanks again!
